Diagonal Block

Combine 32 fabric C squares 2″ x 2″, 64 bg fabric triangles 2 ⅜” x 2 ⅜”, 32 fabric C triangles 3 ⅞” x 3 ⅞”, and 32 bg fabric squares 3 ½” x 3 ½” to make 16 diagonal blocks 6 ½” x 6 ½” using steps a.-c.

a. Sew together 1 fabric C square 2″ x 2″ and 2 bg fabric triangles 2 ⅜” x 2 ⅜” to make a pieced triangle. Repeat to make 32 pieced triangles.

b. Sew together a pieced triangle from step 1 and a fabric C triangle 3 ⅞” x 3 ⅞” to make a corner unit 3 ½” x 3 ½”. Repeat to make a total of 32 corner units.

c. Sew together 2 corner units 3 ½” x 3 ½” and 2 bg fabric squares 3 ½” x 3 ½” to make a diagonal block 6 ½” x 6 ½”.

Repeat to make a total of 16 diagonal blocks.
